Terry Fernando

Terry Fernando, Lecturer and Teaching Lab Coordinator, joined the chemistry faculty in August 2016.  She earned her B.A. in 1986 from C.U.N.Y Hunter College and her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1991. Her research focused on the use of fluorescence spectroscopy to study the role of protein-protein interactions in the regulation of transcription. After a ten year break to raise and educate children, she taught general chemistry at Des Moines Area Community College followed by teaching Organic Chemistry labs, Physics labs and Environmental Science at Grand View University.  In 2009, Terry joined Iowa State University as Teaching Lab Associate and was promoted to Teaching Lab Coordinator in 2011.  Beginning August 2016, she will be instructor for organic laboratory courses.
